Implementation Readiness Fund
The Implementation Readiness Fund is a program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) that supports the Government of Canada’s commitment in the 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan. It provides funding for activities and investments that increase the readiness to deploy greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects and remove barriers to low-carbon technology adoption and 2030 climate mitigation action.
Projects funded through the program will focus on developing and enhancing human and/or institutional resources through activities that facilitate the deployment of GHG emissions reduction technology.
The program is currently closed for applications.
This funding opportunity was open only to organizations invited by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Invited organizations were asked to propose projects which support the development and enhancement of human and institutional resources.
Examples of eligible projects include:
Workforce development and training
- To create curriculum and deliver training programs to help develop the talent and/or skills to support efficient planning and deployment of GHG emissions reduction solutions
Network development and knowledge sharing
- Network building and activities to facilitate the sharing of expertise and best practices to prepare organizations for the implementation of GHG emissions reduction initiatives
Organizations invited to apply
Organizations must have been one of the following:
- Canadian not-for-profit organization
- Canadian for-profit organization
- Canadian public sector body or board
- Canadian research, academic, and educational institution
- Indigenous government, community or organization in Canada
In addition, organizations would need to meet the following criteria by demonstrating that they have:
- A broad reach;
- Organizational capacity to deliver the proposed project;
- In-depth knowledge of GHG emissions reduction measures and challenges facing the target audience;
- Experience offering workforce development and/or network building initiatives that contribute to GHG emissions reduction actions;
- Experience serving small and medium-sized enterprises (1-499 employees), municipalities, school boards, colleges, universities, hospitals, and/or Indigenous communities and organizations;
- Experience with proactive communication with their target audience (asset);
- Experience serving equity-deserving groups (asset).
